To say that the current atmosphere in America is vitriolic and divisive would be an understatement. The hate that is being spewed in the public realm, especially from the left, is unbelievable. But this is the inevitable consequence of what the powerbrokers have been practicing for at least 40 years. Identity politics has taken us to this point and will continue to take us down the road that we are on unless we stop it in its tracks.

I shouldn’t have to say this but I do, because it will be used against me if I don’t clarify my position. Everyone has the right to be proud of who and what they are; if you are of African descent, European descent, Asian descent you should celebrate your heritage. If you are a man or a woman or something in between these days, you have a right to be proud of that. We can go down the list of demographic characteristics that are both chosen or unchosen, and for the most part you should be proud of them. But in no way shape or form does any demographic characteristic make you a better person than anyone else. The content of your character might make you a better person but a demographic characteristic especially one over which you have no control doesn’t make you a better person than anyone else. Neither does it make you a less valuable person or member of society.

But when we practice identity politics, that is as divisive as it can get. The inherent messages in identity politics is that some group is evil and/or that if one group is given something it is automatically taking away from all other groups. It’s as if there is a finite amount of opportunity available which is a patent falsehood. It is also a patent falsehood that all members of the demographic group act and think alike, or share similar principles. You cannot look at someone’s skin color and make assumptions about anything. We all have different experiences, and we have different opinions or belief systems. There are plenty of white males with whom I disagree while there are plenty of women or black men or any other demographic with whom I do agree.

But the liberals and the political elite have used identity politics to create a thread or jealousy or any other feeling that does no good amongst the population. By telling a particular group that they are discriminated against by another group it creates an opportunity for that person to identify themselves as a problem solver. When we tell a group of people that they are discriminated against and we're going after the people who are bigoted on your behalf that gets you put in power. But it also creates hatred and that is what you are seeing manifest itself now.

These neo-Nazi groups like the one that demonstrated in Charlottesville Virginia have been demonstrating and holding rallies for decades. The media and the political elite have essentially ignored them because they don’t represent the majority of any group. While they have the right to congregate and say what they want, they don’t have a right to be heard. But now because the liberal elite and political power structure feel threatened by Donald Trump and the people who support him, all of a sudden these white supremacist groups are getting coverage in the media.

Because somebody like David Duke says he supports Donald Trump, the liberals paint Donald Trump is a bigot. There are multiple incidents over the last 25 to 30 years where President Trump has specifically criticized David Duke and his organization. He has said in no uncertain terms on multiple occasions that he does not support the message of white supremacy yet the media tells you he is supporting them. If you listen to what he said, rather than read about it in the media or listen to the nightly news, you get that message in no uncertain terms.

But because most people don’t go look at the source material they believe what the media is telling them. Trump is said to have been soft on the white supremacists because he also criticized other hate groups like Black Lives Matter or Antifa. Those two groups have been involved in violent protests multiple times over the past several years. They have made statements about segregation and racism similar to what the white supremacists say about them. They supported President Obama and were invited to the White House by him because Obama said they had very good ideas that we need to listen to. Yet the liberals don’t paint him as a racist or bigot even when he says he supports a racist message. The double standard is clearly about one thing, power. If it were about the racing racism and bigotry in America then they would do what Trump did, call out all racist organizations for what they are.

One thing I still believe is that the majority of Americans do not support any racist organizations no matter what message they are espousing; that is which group they hate. As the liberals try to erase history part of the history they are in erasing is the progress we have made as a nation towards trying to make everyone equal in the eyes of the law.

Our founding documents said that all men are created equal even though it was obvious at the time that some people were held as slaves and seen only as property in the eyes of the law. Our founding fathers like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and others knew that we could not create a union at that time if they tried to abolish slavery. But they set the stage for America to make progress toward abolishing slavery by including those words and those principles in our founding documents. They started the conversation to end slavery knowing that if we continued to espouse the belief that all men are created equal that some day we would get there. We have come further than any other nation in the history of the world toward that goal. And as the liberals erase our history, our snowflakes are not going to get that message. We are seeing the consequences of those efforts. And that may be the end of the United States as we know it.
