GCSO donates vehicle to WNMU Police Academy

A 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD pickup was donated by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office to Western New Mexico University’s Police Academy. The presentation was made at the GCSO Tuesday, Apr. 23, 2019.

The vehicle will join another GCSO vehicle donated two years ago to be utilized for training PA class members. Joe Najar, Director of the Academy said that two vehicles will make training go faster as students will not have to wait so long to get that ‘in the vehicle’ experience.

Most of the vehicle’s equipment, including lights, sirens, and radio, will remain installed, GCSO Public Information Officer Lt. Mike Burns stated, but not the computer.

One of the PA students, Gabriel Reynolds, has already been sworn in and will start on-the-job training at GCSO following graduation.
