Silver City, NM, December 8, 2017—The Silver City District is planning to burn piles beginning next Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017,as weather conditions permit.

The plans for the Silver City RD pile burns include the following locations:
· Signal Peak, Aspen Park area – 14 piles of leftover snags and branches
· Fort Bayard administrative site is planned for the week of 12/18.

Pile burning usually has a duration of one day. Smoke for the Signal Peak pile burning may be visible at Lake Roberts and on Hwy 15, north of Middle Creek. Smoke for the Fort Bayard pile burn may be visible at Crumley Ranch, throughout the Fort Bayard trail system and possibly in Santa Clara.

Smoke will be monitored to ensure that the New Mexico Environment Department’s Air Quality Bureau regulations are being met. Smoke-sensitive individuals and those with respiratory or heart disease should take precautionary measures.
