The Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society wishes to announce that beginning on May 5th, the museum, located at Fort Bayard National Historic Landmark, will be open both Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors are welcome to tour the museum, located in the former Commanding Doctor’s house, and to also receive a guided tour of the recently installed artillery exhibit in the New Deal Theater. 

The theater display includes a full size replica of a Mountain Howitzer, donated by local military expert William Kupke.  Fort  Bayard is the only military post and hospital in New Mexico that is designated as a National Historic Landmark, and is also the only site in Grant County officially designated as a National Historic Landmark.  Admission is free, donations are welcome.  For additional information, please call 575-388-4862, or visit historicfortbayard.org .
