The new leadership assumed their responsibilities at the adjournment of the NMAC Annual Conference and will host their first Board meeting in Otero County on August 3rd and 4th.

The new officers of NMAC are President and Otero County Commissioner Susan Flores, President-Elect and Lea County Commissioner Rebecca Long, and Vice President and Eddy County Sheriff Mark Cage, and Past President and Hidalgo County Treasurer Tyler Massey. These individuals were chosen by their peer elected officials as ideal candidates to represent all 33 counties in New Mexico. This honor is truly a significant milestone for any county elected official and is based upon their hard work, local government involvement, and ability to address the critical issues important to New Mexico communities. "The new NMAC set of officers bring diverse backgrounds and experience, and they are extremely dedicated and energetic public servants," said Steve Kopelman, NMAC Executive Director. "I am very excited and look forward to working with them."

Board members also elected the following individuals to serve on the NMAC Executive Committee and the National Association of Counties (NACo) Boards for a two-year term: District Two Representative is Taos County Commissioner Gabriel J. Romero, District Four Representative is Torrance County Assessor Betty Cabber, District Six Representative is Otero County Assessor Steven Boyle, NACo Board representatives are Hidalgo County Treasurer Tyler Massey and Valencia County Commissioner Jhonathan Aragon, and NACo Western Interstate Region (WIR) Board representatives are Otero County Commissioner Susan Flores and McKinley County Commissioner Carol Bowman-Muskett. District Two provides representation on behalf of Colfax, Harding, Mora, San Miguel, Taos, and Union Counties. District Four provides representation on behalf of Curry, De Baca, Guadalupe, Quay, Roosevelt, and Torrance Counties. District Six provides representation on behalf of Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, and Otero Counties.

Founded in 1936 and incorporated in 1968, NMAC is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization governed by New Mexico county elected officials and employees. Its mission is to strengthen New Mexico counties' ability to govern their own affairs and to improve the well-being and quality of life of their constituents. It provides counties with legislative representation, research, training, and assistance in improving the administration and financing of county government.
