Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Steve Pearce visited the Columbus Port of Entry to discuss economic development and trade.

"It is more crucial than ever that we ensure New Mexico has modern ports of entry with Mexico. Modern and efficient ports of entry are critical to the continued success of our border communities and continued trade between the United States and Mexico. I am proud to have played a key role in securing the funds needed to make the Columbus Port of Entry a national leader in effective and efficient trade. The importance of developing the border regions to provide these communities with what is needed to succeed economically will, in turn, prove to be beneficial for both countries. This is why I have been a steady supporter of previous funding for the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. I am thankful for the help provided by the United States Consulate as well as Sonora and Chihuahua elected officials and businessmen who also share the same interest in the economic development of the region."
