Torrance County, NM - On February 20, 2019 at about 8:45 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal rollover crash on eastbound Interstate 40 near mile post 221, east of Albuquerque, NM.

The initial investigation indicated a 2006 Chevy Truck, driven by a seventy-six-year-old man of Sherwood, MI was traveling east on Interstate 40 while towing another vehicle. For unknown reasons both vehicles left the roadway, lost control and rolled.  The passenger Sharon Kay (74) also of Sherwood, MI was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. The driver of the Chevy sustained unknown injuries and was transported to the UNMH Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.   

The weather was a contributing factor in the crash, alcohol was not involved, and seat belts were not properly used. The name of the driver will not be released as he is not facing any charges. No other additional information is currently available.
