The board of the Gila Valley Library seeks an energetic, community-oriented and resourceful person to lead their small, rural library into its third decade. This is a part-time position (20-30 hours/week), with potential for expansion. A certified librarian is preferred, but if otherwise-qualified applicants do not have this certification, the board will work with and support a new Director through an online certification process.

The Director will be responsible for library leadership and for oversight of library operations, keeping the library in compliance with state law and library practices. Depending on the successful applicant's background, and with help from board members, the Director will develop the collection of books, videos and CDs for circulation; develop children's and other programming; obtain and manage grant funds; fundraise; recruit and manage volunteers; and oversee the library facility. The Director will be responsible for developing partnerships with cooperating schools or other organizations, and share responsibility for community outreach with the board. The Director will report to the Chair of the Gila Valley Library Board of Directors.
