V-Day Monologues raises money for nonprofit Rape Crisis Center

BODY TALK: On February 14, ‘The Vagina Monologues’ at WNMU’s Fine Arts Center Theatre will raise money for SRSASS.
This Valentine’s Day, WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre hosts a “one night only” production to raise money and awareness for the mission and vision of Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services. $15 Tickets are available now online or $20 at the door on Feb. 14 @ 6:30 pm. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls started by author, playwright, and activist Eve Ensler. V-Day began on February 14, 1998, when the very first V-Day benefit performance of Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues took place in NYC, raising over $250k for local anti-violence groups.

SFCC partners with Grant County to offer free workforce development training
Online trainings begin on February 20, in-person training begins May 13
SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe Community College announces a partnership with Grant County to offer free workforce development trainings. The popular workforce trainings offered by SFCC include online sessions for a Customer Service Bootcamp (on either February 20 and June 4) and Hospitality Industry Overview Trainings (Thursdays February 22 - March 21), as well as in-person certified fiber optic training (either May 13-17 or Oct. 28-Nov. 1).
Taste of Art set for Feb. 10, 2024 in Glenwood

Glenwood Woman’s Club’s Valentine event, Taste of Art (formerly Red Dessert) will be a feast for your eyes as well as your tummy. It will feature arts and crafts, authors, live music, and homemade desserts and appetizers.
Check it out Saturday Feb. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Glenwood Community Center, 14 Menges Lane off Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood.

The Mimbres Region Arts Council presents Chocolate Fantasia, XOCOLATL: Mayan Chocolate, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11am to 4pm.
Saturday tickets are $25. Savor your chocolates and enjoy the music of Angelica Padilla and one-man band Flicker.
This year we are excited to add a Friday night event at the Little Toad Brewery and Distillery: $55 gets you a flight of Desserts, Chocotorta, Mini Taco Salad Bowls, and a flight of alcohol pairing, with The Illusion band playing and Full access to the event on Saturday.

Friday February 16 canceled due to--We had to have a last minute change up in our casting of the play. To allow our actors time to rehearse and give their best performances, we will have a Dress Rehearsal Friday night instead of the show. We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to come to our shows on Saturday at 3pm & 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.If you absolutely can’t make it, or were planning for Friday night, please come to our dress rehearsal Friday night at 7:15pm. Silver City, New Mexico, January 22 – Virus Theater invites audiences to embark on a unique theatrical journey with their latest production, running from January 26 to February 4.
About the Production: "Lost, Found, and Snowbound" is an original melodrama that plays with traditional Western elements, throwing in unexpected twists with elements from the 1960s and science fiction. The show, a product of a three-month workshop with local high school students, features a dynamic mix of song and dance, eccentric inventions, clever banter, and perils aplenty…. And of course, popcorn throwing!
Music of the West African kora comes to Silver City

The performance will take place at the Silver City Public Library, 515 W. College Ave. in Silver City, NM on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at 4pm. This concert is free to the public thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Library!
Sean Gaskell features songs on the kora- a 21 stringed West African harp. As a student of the instrument, he studied under the instruction of two musicians at their home in Brikama, Gambia, over multiple extensive visits. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many songs featured on the kora preserve an 800 year history dating back to the founding of the Mande empire. Gaskell has presented adult, youth and family programs at over 350 libraries and a multitude of k-12 schools, colleges, universities and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and Canada. Territorial Charter Day celebrates the 146-year-old charter that incorporated Silver City as a town within the New Mexico Territory. This event marked the town's legal recognition, granting it the authority to establish local government and enact laws for its governance.
Join this year's celebrations on Saturday, February 10th at the Silco Theater in downtown Silver City from 1PM to 3PM.
