The area closure goes into effect at midnight on April 8 and will remain in effect until the area is safe for public re-entry.
“Due to the proximity and upwind location of this prescribed fire project to popular camping opportunities at Sapillo Campground and Skates Canyon (“Celebration Camp”) it is necessary to close these areas to the public while fire is applied to the landscape,” said Wilderness District Ranger Brian Stultz. “The closure will be in effect only for the minimum period of time needed for the protection of public safety.”
