What: Join Michael Robinson from the Center for Biological Diversity and lobo advocates Jean and Peter Ossorio for a presentation about the past, present, and future of lobo recovery. Enjoy upbeat folk music by The Gypsy Carpenters and The Big Ditch Crickets! This event is free and open to the public.
Why: 2023 marks the 25th Anniversary of the reintroduction of Mexican gray wolves (lobos) into the wild in the American southwest.

A 10-year-old female student got in an altercation with another student at Harrison Schmitt and said she was going to harm herself. Caller from Harrison Schmitt requested someone meet the student and her mom at home to discuss further. Deputy advised will be clear/made contact with both parties.

A Punk Rock Mental Health Recovery Workshop

Brian Stengel, LSAA, CPSW of the New Mexico Recovery Coalition and WNMU graduate hosts an open forum speakeasy about saving lives, harm reduction, naloxone, and fentanyl test strips. Afterwards, Gregorio "Craig" Lewis, CPS will host the workshop portion opening with his survival and healing story coupled with a group discussion and independent breakout groups. The workshop will then come to a close with mini-presentations discussing each group's findings.

New Photography Exhibit at Silver City Library

Kam Zarrabi, a local resident for 15 years, will be displaying a number of his photographs at the Silver City Library during the months of April and May. With few exceptions, the photographs on display at this exhibit have been shot in Silver City and the surrounding areas.

April 9, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "New Earth Project”
Please join us on Sunday, April 9 for a presentation by Nan Franzblau, Chris Lemme, and Mike and Carol Ann Fugagli as they describe a program of the Upper Gila Watershed Alliance called New Earth Project. This is a community and climate solutions project focusing on food security, soil improvement, carbon sequestration, food waste reduction, education, and youth employment.
The New Earth Project is addressing urgent environmental issues by using regenerative and restorative practices that revitalize agricultural soils and reduce atmospheric carbon through managing soil biology. The Project also focuses on educating, inspiring, and empowering youth through educational activities and employment opportunities.
There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.
