AbeytaJJuana Sotelo Abeyta, 71, a resident of Santa Clara, NM, entered eternal rest on Sunday April 28, 2024 at Gila Regional Medical Center, in Silver City, NM. She was born to her mother, Hermelinda (Robles) Campos in San Juan, TX, on October 18, 1952.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and Tia Juanita was the heart of our family. She devoted her life to her family at no cost.  She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Santa Clara. She retired from FBMC while still managing to care for her late husband, mother, sisters, and her children.  She always made sure none of her family would do without. Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. She loved to go to yard sales, buying things off the TV, and going to casinos with her brother-in-law and her sisters. She was always trying to stay busy and if anyone had a collection of tools, it was her. She was a very loving and caring person and in her eyes we could do no wrong. She had love for everyone she came across, especially for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was the type of person that once you met her, your friendship would last a lifetime. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Luis Abeyta of Albuquerque, NM and Juan Francisco Abeyta of Santa Clara, NM; her three daughters Sara Ray (Jason) of Bayard, NM, Maria Abeyta (Junior Chavarria) of Silver City, NM and Roxanne Abeyta of Santa Clara, NM; her two sisters Esther Morales (Arnulfo) and Estela Martinez of Santa Clara, NM; her fifteen grandchildren; her fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francisco Quintanar Abeyta; her brothers-in-law, Herminio Martinez, Ruben Abeyta, and Eddie “Jumbo” Abeyta; her sisters-in-law, Ylaria Pino and Natalia Catasus and her nephew Ruben Morales.

The Holy Rosary will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Terrazas Funeral Chapel in Santa Clara, NM.  Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Silver City, NM with Fr. Oliver Obele officiating.  Inurnment will be at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
